Which Way?

The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.

– Job 6:18

This scripture delivers a harsh truth! Those that turn aside from the way of life that can be found in only one way, only one person- the Son of God who is Christ Jesus- will perish out of the land; will be remembered no more; and will suffer eternal torment in the lake of fire. That should be enough to wake us all up this morning; that should be enough to wake us up no matter what time of day we find ourselves reading this word!

Are we the ones in danger of perishing in this tormented fashion? Have we called upon and believed in the Lord Jesus to the saving of our souls? If we are saved, what about those around us, those that God has put in our lives, where do they stand in light of eternity? Have they heard the Word? Do they know that without faith it is impossible to please Him (Hebrews 11:6)?

Are they, are you, being tossed about on the sea of life looking for safety; looking for truth; looking for rest and strength to endure like the disciples in Luke 8? Are they, are you, putting faith in the things of this world- things that cannot save and will not last? Or, are they, are you, calling out to the Creator and sustainer of all things- the one that by, and through, and for, all things hold together and have their being?

He is the only way to safety! He is the only one who can calm the storms that rage in our lives! He gives true peace, peace that surpasses all understanding, and unparalleled rest! If they, if we, refuse to abide in Him, abide in the Lord Jesus Christ, we will have made the decision to forfeit and throw away the greatest gift ever given to men- the gift of freedom, of eternal life in Heaven with the Father!

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. – John 14:6
