And the LORD said unto me, Son of man, mark well, and behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears all that I say unto thee concerning all the ordinances of the house of the LORD, and all the laws thereof; and mark well the entering in of the house, with every going forth of the sanctuary.
– Ezekiel 44:5
How can we expect to get in when we do not know what is required of us in order to gain entry?
How can we expect to stay in when we do not know what we are to avoid?
How can we claim to know the Lord when we do not know His precepts, ordinances, and laws?
How can we claim to be His disciples when we do not know His personality; His likes and dislikes; or even His expectations of our friendship?
Can we have a true friendship with someone that we do not really know?
Will we trust them? Confide in them?
Will we respect their opinions; understand their reasoning; or feel compelled to obey them if they are in a position of authority over us?
How could we? Really, how could we?
That is not friendship; that is not even relationship. It is more like a distant acquaintance! Maybe an acquaintance that we are enamored with; perhaps one that we even would like to emulate if we just did not feel so inadequate; so busy already; or so preoccupied- that we never even try!
Isn’t that the truth? We want what God has given freely through His Son, Jesus Christ! We want it for sure because our soul, our very spirit, knows it is the truth- He IS The TRUTH! So, we claim to know and follow after Him and the Truth that He provides! We call Him our Lord; our Savior, but to our own hurt, our own terrible terrible hurt, we do NOT do what He says because we do NOT even know who He is!
Let that no longer be the case for you! Resolve to find out about the Lord just like you would or did your spouse, your children, your best friend. Look and listen intently as you resolve to discover His likes and dislikes, His expectations in the relationship! Dig and seek and look and keep going because you can never get to the bottom of who He is! You will not be disappointed in Him! He will never ever let you down! Find out what is required to get inside the house of the Lord and what you must do to stay there!
And you shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. – Jeremiah 29:13
