What Must I Do To Be Saved?

“For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Romans 5:10

It is hard to wrap our minds around the fact that we are saved- justified solely by the finished work of Christ Jesus. Surely there must be something we must do in order to achieve so great a reward? Yet the Bible tells us that even the very faith it takes to believe is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8)!

Because this is not a logical concept by any stretch of the imagination we will inevitably witness copious amounts of people insisting that they must do “something” in order to validate their standing before God! We have all been there at one time or another in our walk with the Lord!

If I do this then I will qualify for that!

If I don’t do this then I am worthy of that!

This is how the world thinks and how they see those living a life hide in Christ! It’s important that we do not continue to see as they do! Our sanctification depends on it! Our very salvation depends on it as well!

How can we claim Christ and yet not give Him ALL the credit where credit is most certainly due?

Jesus paid it all!

Our only hope is to believe that!

How can we get to the point of true, faithful and pure, belief?

We cannot even do that of our own will or want! That too is a gift from God!

Is it hopeless for us then? Should we just give up and return to the ways of the world? Shall we keep striving and carrying burdens that are too much for us to bear?

Certainly NOT!

God had made a way- He always has and always does!

That way does involve some work on our part!

And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. – Jeremiah 29:13

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. – Matthew 7:7

Ah there it is! Something we can do! Something we should resolve to do!

And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee:
for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. – Psalm 9:10
