For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?Romans 8:24
If our hopes are placed in the right person we will have hearts, minds, souls, and spirits filled with joy regardless of our circumstances! We may be in the depths of grief; in the valley of despair; or facing the very gates of hell but that joy will still be manifested inside of us!
A joy that leads us into a peace that surpasses all understanding. (Philippians 4:7)
A joy unspeakable and full of glory. (1 Peter 1:8)
Because, …weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. (Psalm 30:5)
If we hope in ourselves this joy will be short lived and superficial- always depending upon our current state of affairs. If all is going as we planned or wanted we will have joy for a moment. If you have been filled with the joy of the LORD you understand that this conditional joy that comes from hoping in ourselves is of no comparison to the fullness and satisfaction that comes from hoping in Our Creator!
We will never be satisfied apart from true hope and faith in Him! We will keep searching as everyone around us comes up short! If we hope in our career to give us joy; a spouse to make us whole; or our children to save us we will be disappointed. All of these avenues we take to try and find joy wind along the wide path that leads only, ONLY, to destruction!
It is only, ONLY, on that narrow path of life that true and lasting joy can be found! And that narrow path starts (and never ends) with a faithful believing hope in the Lord Jesus Christ!
It is a hope that bids you to come die to yourself so that you may live to Him! Once dead, your life now hide in Christ, your joy will be full so that despite what you must face, what the world may throw at you, you will be able to honestly quote for yourself the words of the Apostle Paul found in Philippians 4:11: “… I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.”
