This verse of scripture is a powerful, short, and very effective prayer! A prayer fit for all people- For the babe in Christ who has just come to have a saving faith in Jesus to the seasoned child of God!
This little divinely inspired prayer encompasses all of the elements of a humble life that is surrendered to Gods will over and above its own! A life that knows the source of all true strength and wisdom is to be found in the one who created it all!
For the creature is not above the Creator nor is the servant greater than the Master!
How does one come to obtain such a simple yet profound faith as this? How does a babe in Christ even spiritually comprehend what they are saying and asking in this beautiful prayer?
It’s very possible that they have no idea the depth of meaning found therein nor do they truly grasp the implications of making such a request to the LORD God Almighty! But He does, yes, God knows and it is His Holy Spirit that compels the person to open their mouth and be filled with the Word of God!
For it is the Word of God that saves! And it is written therein that Jesus is that very Word. (John 1)
When we, in sincerity of heart, repeat His Words to the Father in Heaven, we are asking for the very promises of God to be manifested in our lives! A request which the LORD God Almighty desires to answer for our benefit!
This is why when Jesus prayed to the Father on our behalf; He asked the Father to, Sanctify {us} through thy truth: thy word is truth. (John 17:17)
