Shalom

Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Matthew 4:8-11 KJV
She left off talking
as she started to run
So many things unsaid
many more left undone

She’s lived ten lifetimes
but nobody cares
They’re all fighting their own battles
And have demons to share

She can see through them
as they open their mouths
They’re not good at hiding
what’s holding them down

People tell her to write
of these things that she’s seen
She thinks it best
if they just live in her dreams

It gets all muttled
confused and complex
How can she straighten out
what has already passed

In the mundane
She surely finds calmness
In serving others
Her light shines through the darkness

She thinks of the mountains
of her childhood home
Imperfect masterpieces
of glorious domes

Mountains so beautiful
In all of their granger
Satan tempted Jesus
But He was never in danger

He resisted that devil
who tried to cast Him down
She prays she can stand the same
as they try to drag her around

She stares into space
remembering His promise
And kneeling at His cross
is where she finds solace
